Hand me a Clothesline

While walking through the lesser known pathways in Venice, we stumbled along canals filled with colorful laundry, airing out to dry on clothesline. These photos were taken from my backpacking trip in Italy from 2005, but they are still an inspiration to look at now.

Murano, Italy, reminds me of Haji Lane in Singapore. Is it just me, or does every city have a block full of colorful painted houses?

  4. South Africa is nothing like Europe, but Cape Town, oddly, does have a feel of Europe and its cities.
There is something in the light, and it is that which I thought of when I saw these shots :)

  5. I love these pics and Italy! that's true, i've often seen drying clothes hanging outside, but i think it might be so in all southern countries like for ex. Spain, Portugal etc...

    Wish you a nice sunday!

  6. This is amazing! Although I live in Rome, I've never been to Venice yet! I should really go someday!
The clothesline are very very common here, especially in little towns. They are someway folkloristic!
Anyway, I bet those clothes NEVER get dry with all that dampness haha! ;D
